What are some really unknown/underrated Britpop bands you think we should listen to? You have great taste in music and mention a lot of bands, but I’m lazy and a list would be really cool! Sorry if I’m bothering you

nihilistic-superbitch:

Aw, this is so nice of you!! You’re totally not bothering me, I love recommending stuff to people + have recently gotten into even more bands! Shocking but true! So this list should be pretty neat. 😉 Not sure what you mean by really unknown Britpop, as pretty much every band besides Pulp, Suede, Blur & Oasis has been forgotten, but I’ll assume you’re aware of Sleeper, Elastica, Menswe@r, Mansun & hopefully Marion. Okay! Here I go!

Semi-unknown Britpop: Strangelove, Powder, Salad, The Wannadies, Gay Dad, Longpigs, Geneva, Rialto, The Dandys, King Adora (who aren’t really Britpop but are too good to not be mentioned).
Pretty unknown Britpop: Kinky Machine (with Louis Eliot off Rialto), Subcircus (whom I will never shut up about), David Devant & His Spirit Wife, The Bardots, Tiger, Soda, Bawl.
Really unknown Britpop: Ballroom (fell in love with them just DAYS ago), Elcka, Thurman, Hillman Minx, Libidō.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten at least one of my favourites, which is why I REALLY RECOMMEND my Best of Britpop & Related Bands playlist that includes songs by everyone above (except Blur & Oasis :-)) and then some. 😉 Have fun and please message me again if you find something you like there!

David Devant & His Spirit Wife are still one of my favourite bands of all time. I just wish I’d got to see them in their carrot-grating, dress-on-a-stick-waving heyday.

Also I’d like to mention the Supernaturals, Symposium, Jocasta, Super Furry Animals, Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci… and loads of others in my teenage record collection who might’ve only released one single but they enriched my GCSE years.
