I’m so sick of being preoccupied with silly season. Like, I get it, Felipe is likely to not be in F1 next year – but dealing with that is the easy part. I’ve got time to get used to it, he’ll probably go to another series I can follow, he’ll prob still be all over social media anyway, etc. But what really gets me is – well, it’s two things. One is the ever-present denigration he has to go through from the media and idiots on social media. I HATE seeing all the shit people say about him (even though I should be used to it), especially when it’s not true but everyone believes it anyway, and especially when it’s the media who perpetuate this stuff. But what gets me even more this year is the way Williams have gone about their approach to the driver market. I was genuinely shocked when Claire openly fawned over Jenson and said how much she’d love him to drive for Williams next year. Way to motivate your current drivers! I found that extremely disrespectful and distasteful, and not what I expected at all. (Jenson, for his part, seems to have no fucks left to give about F1 at all, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he jacks it in and tells both McLaren and Williams to shove it – but maybe he’s just being more circumspect, unlike the desperation Williams are showing.) We’ve always talked about the ~Williams family~ and this has really stung. 

It was easier when he left Ferrari cos I never liked them anyway lol, largely thanks to Alonso. But Williams had really won my affection, and I feel really let down. The moral is clearly NEVER LOVE ANYTHING.
