Idk why but this ask showed up different to the others so I can’t include any formatting OH AND I SEE IT LOST TWO OF MY ANSWERS COS I PUT IN POINTY BRACKETS, ffs Tumblr wtf is wrong with you
3. three favourite writers
I’m pissed off at Tumblr now so these first two answers might not be as good as the original versions lol. Idk if this question meant fic writers or the other kind, but for once I’m going with the latter, cos I recently remembered how much I love Ray Bradbury and how discovering his work was the only good thing to come out of my one week at a sixth form college where I didn’t know anyone and felt so isolated and wretched I just spent all my free time in the library. Terry Pratchett is another eternal fave, especially the first half of the Discworld canon, peaking around Men at Arms/Soul Music. And I’m going to throwback to Roald Dahl, cos his work was everything I wanted as a child – fantastical events that he still described in a completely believable and captivating way, and baddies getting their comeuppance, lol.
4. three writers that have influenced me
The book that I’ve always aspired to write like most is Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita. I was completely blown away by his descriptions and imagery, and even some particular phrases he used stick with me vividly. I also have to mention some fic writers here, because fic writing and reading are so closely intertwined: in Saiyuki fandom there was an author called New Kate who wrote the most creative, compelling, and cleverly woven stories, and I def tried to leech some of that style, lol. A few years back, at the height of the retro F1 revival, there was also a writer called theruo who wrote some incredibly sex scenes – not really the sort of sex scenes I write, lol, but still, there was a lot I felt I could learn from there.
40. which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series
When I started writing A Seaside Story in K8 fandom, the whole idea was that it was meant to be like a BL j-drama that Subaru and Yasu could star in, haha. Juvenile delinquent finds redemption and unexpected love on an isolated island, that is absolutely a j-drama plot! But I never finished the fic, even though I wrote like enough for a lengthy novel and had the rest planned out D; Curse my fickle nature!
41. one song that captures (insert story title)
A lot of my fics have titles stolen from songs, which is ironic in the case of Good to be on the Road Back Home Again, because that sentiment doesn’t seem to apply to the situation in the fic at all, lol. It’s been suggested to me by A Source that Million Reasons by Lady Gaga fitted it a lot better and it really does. So if anyone wants to make a fanmix to go with the fic, there’s a start~ ;3 And it’s a roadtrip fic, no better fic to have a mixtape for right?? >.>
