anyone else really happy they got over their “i hate the color pink” phase

Why were we all so extra

Internalised misogyny

Hang on a minute – maybe young girls don’t like the *associations* with the colour pink? Playing with dolls, preparing for being a mum, staying in the kitchen, not going outside and getting dirty, being sweet and staying in your place, being seen and not heard. Things that girls should rebel against, right? And when you’re a kid, that’s what the colour pink represents: girls being kept down. Hating the colour pink is a rejection of the stereotypical role of Being a Girl in society, and I think that’s very healthy for young girls. Of course, as you get older, you start see the mechanisms behind the colour pink, But as a kid, it’s the colour that’s forced on you. And for little girls to question anything that they’re ~supposed to like, I think is a very good thing.
