Rich people are fucking monsters
I hate the “I worked hard for my huge mountains of money” argument because the underlying implication is that people without money don’t work hard and don’t deserve nice things, when in reality some of the most demanding jobs are also some of the worst paying, while plenty of rich folk came by their money purely by luck of being born into the right family.
Also if you call having to live near poor people “so unfair” then what the hell do you call losing your home, all your belongings, and possibly even some of your loved ones?
The most galling part is that these people would literally rather the homes, which are *nothing to do with them*, be empty, rather than house people who haven’t “earnt” them. They’re not being asked to contribute anything, they’re not being inconvenienced in any way – they’re simply offended by someone getting for “free” something that they had to pay for. Something that they could easily afford. I don’t believe all wealthy people are incapable of altruism, but these people are testing that.
