Ooh this is actually a pretty tough one! And really made me realise how many of my favourite songs really aren’t what you’d call happy songs, haha, even if they’re fairly upbeat. So I tried to choose pure cheery-sounding ones!
1. Cornershop – Brimful of Asha. This was the sound of the 5th year in high school, what a tune it still is.
2. Queen – Keep Yourself Alive. I’d never heard this song before a couple of years ago and it kick-started me onto my full-blown Queen phase which was extremely rewarding. And I’m going to see Queen on Friday yesssss
3. The Libertines – Fame & Fortune. Cos, y’know, Hold onto your dreams/However bleak it seems 💚
4. Small Faces – The Universal. You cannot beat the Small Faces for perfectly crafted beat tunes that aren’t just the run of the mill 60s disposables. And who can argue with Working doesn’t seem to be the perfect thing for me/So I continue to play?
5. Adam Ant – Car Trouble. Adam’s poppiest early single. Impossible not to sing along to!
Thanks for asking! 😀
