Ferrai has this bullshit agreement that if you buy one of their cars new off the lot, you have to sign a contract saying you basically don’t own the car and have to uphold their brand standards with it.
It’s sets a startling example of not owning something despite buying it and the court needs to use this as a chance to strike it down as unethical.
This shit again? And I thought it was bad enough with ford and john deer telling farmers they didn’t own the tractors they bought from them….
Yeah, they have this really unethical clause in the purchase contract you can’t modify the car or do anything with it that they’d consider “unbecoming of the brand”, which is why they were able file this suit.
It seems kind of bizarre at first until you realize how horrifying that is in the age of “do you own what you buy?” being a huge a debate (especially in tech).
This is pretty much Ferrari’s philosophy from the start, they are extremely prideful of their cars like if they were made from God’s hands or something.
They are very snobby, infact the owner of Ferrari doesn’t like the people who buy their cars since because they are bought for “status”.
They also never test their cars on public tracks in comparison with other racing cars like when they wanted to test out the Porche 918 Spyder vs The McLaren P1 vs LaFerrari. Take a guess who bailed out on the performance test.
Just an update
Lambo are the perfect people to jump in on this because they make insane cars and they are never above clowning them up because Lambo are all about THE DRAMA ™
It’s worth noting that Ferruccio Lamborghini, the founder of the company originally only made tractors. His company became successful and at some point he bought a Ferrari, but had a complaint with the car. He ended up taking this complaint to Enzo Ferrari, himself, who told the man he did not take advice from a mere tractor maker. Four months later the first Lamborghini sports was birthed out of pure spite. I’d like to this somewhere he’s enjoying this immensely.
Okay last post then I’ll stfu about Blackpool. I just had to post this ‘cause it’s fucking adorable. So we’re in Vodka Revs which, if you’re a) not British and/or b) have no knowledge of Vodka Revs, you should know that it’s really not an indie sort of place, not to my knowledge anyway, but there was hardly anyone in there so maybe they played better music just for us? Let’s go with that.
So we’re there with our two for one cocktails and shots and then CSMN comes on. So you’ve got @aliskirenn‘s adorable face when she realises what song it is, me going “I can’t” because I’m drunk and The Emotions got me, @ohsososophisticated sitting opposite us totally not as drunk and waiting for us to realise what song it is and then laughing her head off, @getaddictet going “I know it!… I know it!” and then of course @mind-ontherun‘s siiiiiick dance moves.
4. a song that is not sung in your native language
I listen to loads of music that’s not in English, a lot of which I’ve already mentioned, so I’ll go with a different artist for this! Songhoy Blues – Soubour. I saw Songhoy Blues the other week and they put on an incredible show, loads of energy and a powerful message about tolerance, love and the important role music can have in bringing people together. I’m so pleased at the success they’ve had around the world.
33. a song you have ZERO patience for
Oh man, how long have you got…? There’s a trailer for a radio show with Charlotte Gainsbourg and she mentions Lay Lady Lay and that might be one of the worst songs in history, soz Serge.
34. a song you’d like your favorite artist to cover
The Libs are fond of a cover, which is always a treat cos I do love hearing faves covering faves! I think a while back I said I’d love to hear them cover The Kinks’ Village Green Preservation Society, that would be great.
Fela Kuti – Coffin for Head of State (this is the 22 minute version, but there’s a lite 13 minute version as well). The story behind the song is that Fela was attacked, and his mother murdered, by government soldiers because of Fela’s music criticising the military regime ruling Nigeria at that time. He sent his mother’s coffin to the dictator head of state, and wrote this piece.
18. a song that demands lipsyncing into a makeshift microphone
I hardly know any music videos that aren’t Japanese, and most Johnnys ones are kind of samey haha. But for old times’ sake, let’s say Kanjani8 – Zukkoke Otokomichi, haha.
32. a song whose lyrics shocked you once you were old enough to understand them
Hmm idk if this has really happened to me in English but there’s some non-English songs that are p sleazy when you translate them, lol. Like Raul Seixas’ Rock das Aranhas, haha. There’s a cobra, and a spider, and it’s cringey lol.
36. a great song you discovered thanks to television
Kula Shaker – Tattva, and the reason why forms a crucial part of my origin story! In 1996 when I was 14 and just starting to get into music, there was a gay storyline in Eastenders and I was completely fascinated with it. When they guys finally kissed I was so thrilled! And thought I must be so strange and perverted for finding this so exciting, haha, like there must be no other straight girl in the world who felt that way. LITTLE DID I KNOW. Anyway, there was a scene in this storyline in a pub, and Tattva was playing in the background. And I’m not 100% sure but I think that’s how I discovered that song. I loved Kula Shaker even though they were deeply uncool, but that probably made me love them more tbh, haha.
37. a song you’re ashamed to have in your music library
Hmm idk if “ashamed” is right tho there are some songs that I’d def be embarrassed by if they came on in the shop lol. Something like Kanjani8′s Yonayona Yo Night, which is the most mental song from the most mental group, haha. I’ve not got a copy to hand and ofc it’s not on YouTube or anything but that might be for the best lol. If you know, you know!
38. ok what’s the song you were too ashamed to even post for #37
If y’all want me to say Jedward it ain’t happening man!!! Young Love was a genuinely good album! /leaves
At this time my mind goes straight to The Libertines – Good Old Days cos it was my unexpected highlight of the tour this year ❤ I always enjoyed the song but I loved how they did it live, with the lighting and all as well.
(Sound quality not that good but this is a show I was at!)
22.a song you can’t help but dance to
Dancing’s a bit of a sore point since the Wedding Incident. I don’t like to think about it lol. I’m not much of a dancer (which is what led to the Incident) but back in the day it’d be something like The Coral – Dreaming of You. Or The White Stripes – Hotel Yorba!
35. a great song you discovered thanks to a movie
Raul Seixas – Metamorfose Ambulante, from my all-time favourite movie, City of God. And it led me to discover the wonderful music of Raul. #TocaRaul
