Carlos the mallorcan sex god, paralysed for hours, trapped in this oddly world, sloping trailer, plastikfrogs, green mirrors, dumbstruck by the horror in your face i lean you back and stroke your forehead and kiss you and not even an old ‘you still got it eddie’ can rouse your spirit.

Peter Doherty (Network 54 Forum, July 2002)

In case anyone didn’t know and is interested, last night I watched the episode of Sky Arts’ Rock ‘n’ Roll series that Peter appears on. It was about poetry and Peter was the very last artist featured. He talks about wanting to break free of his regimented army upbringing, his love of London, WWI poets and all the old-fashioned stuff that made him different from his peers as a kid, and how he wanted to find others who shared the same views. He sings the old song he ~borrowed the Mrs Brown line from for What Katie Did, and sings and plays Albion quite beautifully. But I think the most poignant part is where he talks about the way he feels he’s wasted a lot of time through his lifestyle and writing songs makes him feel like he’s achieved something and has something to show for himself after all. “I try to write… to make it look as if I’m doing something with my life,” indeed.

The ep will be on Sky Arts next Friday but you can already dl or watch it from the link above. If I had the first idea how to rip it, I would, but I’m not that technologically advanced unforch ;(

The gig is literally a quarter of the size of every other show they’re doing and sold out in like 5 minutes

I know, I’m super glad I did it now – especially as I told the person I was meant to be doing the favour for and it’s fine after all haha. I might die if I try and get near the front BUT it’ll be enough just being there!
