Happy 72nd Birthday Freddie! 🎂 🎶 Lover of Life, Singer of Songs 🎶 ~ 5th September 1946 ~
“I don’t want to change the world. For me, happiness is the most important thing and if I’m happy then it shows in my work. I like to feel that I’m just being my honest self and as far as I’m concerned I just want to pack in as much of life and fun, having a good time as much as I can within the years I have.”
Peter: If anything does sound, like, spazz-ish, then it was Carl speaking. If anything like, touched you, or moved you personally, that was me.
Carl: Yeah he’s probably right.
Margate FC are delighted to announce a number of special guests will be attending our Emirates FA Cup tie at Hartsdown Park this Saturday 8 September.
Ahead of their Sharabang gig at the Wheels and Fins Festival on Sunday, The Libertines will be catching The Gate in action, as they take on Horndean FC with kick-off scheduled at 3pm.
We are also delighted to reveal, the club will welcome the popular online football-based publication, Soccerbible to this weekend’s game. Soccerbible will be interviewing the band and finding out more about Margate FC during their visit.
Very short interview clip with Peter and Carl from Steve Lamacq’s 25 at 25 retrospective of his career so far at the BBC. Also has intro from Steve about the band then.
Peter: This is Carl, he plays guitar and sings. Carl: This is Peter, he plays guitar. We’re all from- Peter: Pandemonia… We’ve lied about it so often, it’s difficult to remember exactly how we did meet. But we can’t lie to the BBC, can we? …It seems like every man and his dog in Poplar has been in the Libertines, we’ve had a fair few members come and go, different residencies, different clubs in London, putting on different nights. Other bands. Carl: Under many different names. Peter: It’s been a pretty sordid affair really.
