The phrase comes from a (possibly erroneous) Carl quote from that story about the supposedly crazy girl who they used to live with. Off the top of my head, the story that she told was that she gave Peter money to pay the bills or something, he assured her he did (he did not), but Carl warned her that Peter had “veracity problems” – that is to say, he doesn’t always tell the truth, lol. I have no idea if the story is actually true haha but I can hear Carl saying that in my head!

In fairness it wasn’t really anything bad (and it was a translated interview so idk the words he used in English!) – he said he “never really understood what they were trying to do”, or something like that. He definitely didn’t consider FF to be part of the same movement or musical line of succession as the Libs, anyway!

Haha well I did have the same thought initially, like “Does anyone else know about this, or is it just in his own head” lol, but then he mentioned it again, and there is precedent in that he’s had shops before, so… I guess it’ll just be something for him to have till he gets bored of it or someone tells him to stop, lol. BUT yes I do hope he’s going to concentrate on music, tho I’m more anxious for him to get back to work with the Libertines than anything else, I have to say! 

Haha oh nooooo I still love Carl with my whole heart! But he’s more elusive in Margate haha, Peter’s always about! You can barely avoid seeing him if you spend a day or two there lol

I’m trying to remember exactly what was said! Carl asked “What’s you second favourite soup?” and I might not have caught the immediate response because I was too busy killing myself laughing with @missoneminute but I have a memory of Peter saying something slightly snarky or dismissive, like a “That’s quite enough of that” type comment – I remember his response piquing my curiosity anyway! Does anyone else have a clearer memory? 

Unfortunately not, but there wasn’t any cake there when we got there, so maybe he’d already been in that day! Haha

Ahh yeah I know and have enjoyed all those fics! Probably my favourite ever is Can’t Get a Life (If My Heart’s Not In It), on AO3 – there’s not a huge number of Libs fics on there, but there’s some good ones! Another of my faves is a fic called Counter Attack which is a WWI AU and is wonderful. I also love
