hello, im a shy new fan and im just wondering if you can recommend songs that you think every fan should listen to and also songs were likely to hear when they perform live. Thanks! X.

missoneminute:

Ohh welcome! As they boys say don’t be shy! Truly everyone is lovely! Not sure what you have heard already, all the hits I imagine, so I’ve listed my most vital rarer Libs songs below.

In terms of suggestions from their albums as a fan I would say… all of them, heh!  But important standouts are: Good Old Days (this is essentially the fundamental philosophy of the band in song), Last Post On The Bugle (Carl once referred to it being along the lines of Peter’s goodbye letter prior to their split), Death On The Stairs (this one is the boys’ favourite song to play so an important one), You’re My Waterloo (which is also vital as it’s believed to be a song about Peter and Carl’s relationship, particularity Peter singing about Carl) and of course Can’t Stand Me Now because it’s just them brawling and breaking up in song. Milkman’s Horse is a recent one that speaks of their relationship. But honestly there is such a tapestry of songs that are important to their story, however that’s a start!

The live show set lists have stayed very similar for the past year or two, so this setlist linked here is about the norm for their own gigs and this setlist here about what you’d see for a festival slot (you’d likely get a few extra songs if they’re headlining however). That said they sometimes play random old songs or covers and skip the hits – you kind of never know. The first time I saw them they skipped What A Waster but did Hooligans on E which was rare and amazing! So anything can happen with that lot.

I’m assuming you have heard the hits like Can’t Stand Me Now and the albums, so other songs you must hear, links included, according to me anyway! Other suggestions welcome! Please comment with your own.

F1 Racing Magazines

thepagemistress:

So, I’ve given myself something of a project. Since I own almost every F1 Racing magazine, I figured I’d scan them because I know there are people who are interested in older articles who might not have the means to get hold of physical copies themselves.

It’s a slow process but I figured I’d make the spreadsheet public now because why not? The magazines start from 1996 but I’ve started my scanning from 2000 since I figured that was the period more people would be interested in. I will be going back to do the other ones at a later date.

There are some sporadic articles scanned from later years which are ones I did ages ago (people who have followed me for a while may remember me posting them) but I will work my way through them all gradually.

I want this spreadsheet and all the info to be available for free but there is an option to donate the cost of a coffee if you feel inclined since this is taking a lot of time and effort etc. But please don’t feel obliged in any way!

Enjoy!
