Oh shit lol well, then: 23, 29 & 30!

23. three songs that never fail to get you pumped up

Oo, good one! Hmmm again hard to narrow it down haha!

Carl Barat & the Jackals – Victory Gin
The Jam – Town Called Malice
Manic Street Preachers – PCP

29. three songs that influenced you most (some songs change or save lives)

Oh wow, excellent question. I can’t go so far as to say a song has saved my life, but they’ve definitely sent me down some paths for which I’m forever grateful.

Kanjani8 – One
The Libertines – You’re My Waterloo
The Beatles Blue Album

30. three songs you really want your followers to know (for reasons other than all those above)

Another one where I could go on and on haha but:

Cornershop – Good to be on the Road Back Home Again
Blackalicious – Ego Trip by Nikki Giovanni
Raul Seixas – Gita

Thank you! 🙂

♫ ø ✒ for the musical asks!

♫ Name your top 3 albums from your favorite band/artist.

Heh, well the Libs only have 3 (incidentally my order of preference goes Up the Bracket > AFDY > The Libertines I’M SORRY OK I KNOW THAT’S WRONG) but for a more interesting answer here’s my top 3 Beatles albums:

1) Revolver
2) The White Album
3) Abbey Road

(Again I know that’s ~wrong but idgaf, haha)

ø  If you could play any musical instrument, what would it be?

I actually always wanted to play the clarinet. And I love Dixieland jazz so I’d still pick that!

Already did

✒! Thanks! 😀

Green tea, pu-erh & earl grey for the Tea asks!

Already did green tea!

Pu-erh:

3 random facts about myself

– I’m not a sporty person but in one year of high school I was captain of the hockey team because I was the only one who didn’t talk back to the teacher. We lost every single match except one and (or perhaps because) nobody cared one iota
– I love travelling and in particular I love staying in hotels. If I was super rich I’d live in fancy hotels all the time. I’m a very untidy person at home but in hotel rooms I’m super neat haha.
– Nostalgia is my favourite indulgence. I keep all sorts of mementos and love remembering the emotions associated with them, or with particular music or scents or pictures.

Earl Grey: how do you take your tea?

Milk no sugar. I can drink it without milk if I have to but sugar is just intolerable, haha XP

Thanks!

Hello! I’m pretty sure you already write about it but I can’t find any posts, but if you’d recommend songs for the Libertines, which ones would it be? (Or your favorites ones, actually) I realize that I only know the “most famous” ones, and while I love them, I’d also curious to know which ones are your favourites.

Ahh sorry for the late response, I was away and wanted to give this the thought it deserves!

If I was going to pick one overall favourite out of all their songs, I think it’d have to be You’re My Waterloo (video here). It’s not what you’d necessarily think of as a typical Libertines song, but I heard it for the first time last year and was completely drawn in by the line I’ve been sitting here for hours baby/Just chasing these words across the page, because that resonated with me as a writer. And THEN I found out it’s actually one of their oldest songs, and it refers to all sorts of legends and stories from their history and relationship that give it a huge significance in their canon. Oops, I didn’t mean to talk so much about a single song, but that’s a special case, haha.

From their first album, I could pick out a bunch of faves, including the more well-known Time for Heroes (probably my favourite of their singles), Up the Bracket and I Get Along, but my other faves are Vertigo, Horror Show, and The Good Old Days. Pretty much the whole album is great though, and is my favourite of their LPs!

From their second album, What Katie Did is a highlight, and, ironically, What Became of the Likely Lads is a song I love even though it’s emotionally devastating and is essentially an obituary for the band at the end of their first run. It hurts to listen to, but it’s also nice that, a decade later, they proved What became of forever? We’ll never know wrong after all. ❤

Perhaps slightly controversially, haha, I love their third album and could recommend nearly any song off it. I particularly love Fame and Fortune, cheesy chorus and all, for its catchy riff and uncharacteristically inspirational line Hold onto your dreams/However bleak it seems. I also love how a number of songs on the album reflect on the situation around their reunion, such as Belly of the Beast, Fury of Chonburi and Glasgow Coma Scale Blues

Finally, they also have some very enjoyable B-sides, such as The Delaney, Bangkok (with one infamous line I’ll leave you to discover, haha), and Dilly Boys.

Sorry for the wall o’text but once I started I couldn’t stop, haha! I hope you enjoy the songs, please let me know what you think! 😀
