I won’t be selfish and say… Manics

Haha you can probably ask some more cos I don’t know if anyone else will!

Am I a fan: Yes, tho I was mainly a fan in my teens – I got into them in 1996 but cos I wanted to be cool I got into their back catalogue more than their new album, haha. Have loads of nostalgia for those first four albums still!

First song I heard: Probably A Design For Life

Favorite member: I think they’re all pretty good guys but I always liked Sean because he was super quiet and reclusive (and cute), lol

Favorite song: Probably still Motorcycle Emptiness. Who can resist that riff??

Have I been to a concert: I have! I saw them in Leeds in 2016, when they were touring the 20th anniversary of Everything Must Go. They were so warm to the audience, I’m really happy they’ve somehow achieved this unlikely venerable status!

Thanks!

10. three favourite Halloween/spooky songs

Oo interesting! Might be a bit tenuous but I’m going to go with:

Dorothy Tsatoke – I am the Beginning and the End (more “haunting” than spooky but I’m going with it!)
The Specials – Ghost Town
Bobby ‘Boris Pickett & the Crypt Kickers – Monster Mash (does this count as a guilty pleasure as well? Haha)

19. three songs that are your guilty pleasure

Lol this could’ve been a very long list.

Bonzo Dog Band – Mr Apollo
Donovan – I Love My Shirt
Jedward – Can’t Forget You 😉

22. three songs you listen to when you’re sad

Ooh if I was wanting to wallow a bit I might go with:

Jimi Hendrix – Bold as Love
Babyshambles – Sedative
Queen – It’s Late

Thank you! 😀

20. What’s something you learned this year?

WELL I def made inroads into learning the entire history of a notorious 21st century British guitar band, haha. If I’d known about the Albion and Arcadia and their romantic world full of WWI poetry and classic literature and soulmates I’d’ve been here all along!

22. Favorite place you visited this year?

Bergamo, hands down. I only spent half a day there after the Italian GP in September, but it was a beautiful sunny day and it’s a gorgeous old Italian hill town, full of history and beautiful views and a botanic garden full of friendly cats. I walked around listening to Shotters Nation and Sequel to the Prequel for the first time and the whole experience just melded wonderfully together for me. My favourite day of the year!

Thanks for asking! 😀

Though in all fairness it’s peters song not a Libs song. Still they used to play it at times. It’s so lovely when they do

Yeah, I love the recorded Babyshambles version and Peter’s performances of it, but every video I’ve seen of the Libs performing it together (or those occasions when Carl’s shown up and performed it at Peter’s shows with him) just get me right in the heart, haha. I basically would just love a recording where they share the vocals! Tho I might die haha

Y 😉

I prefer the new version of Waterloo too. Peter’s vocal on the original is just too odd!

It’s so strange and affected, it kind of reminds me of someone, probably from the 60s, but I can’t quite recall who! It’s the same reason I haven’t really been able to bring myself to listen to a lot of their early demos!

The gig is literally a quarter of the size of every other show they’re doing and sold out in like 5 minutes

I know, I’m super glad I did it now – especially as I told the person I was meant to be doing the favour for and it’s fine after all haha. I might die if I try and get near the front BUT it’ll be enough just being there!
