I know I say this over and over but the thing I struggle with most in writing is getting things down, seeing how they work, and then altering or deleting them if necessary. I find it SO HARD to write things down if I’m not certain about them, because what if I write something and it’s wrong and it makes the story go completely wrong and I can’t get it back? What if I write something and I don’t realise it’s wrong until it’s too late? Nobody will even know – but *I’ll* know, and the characters will know, and they (and I) will judge me.
Seriously. I’ve never been a person who does a lot of editing – I prefer to get it all cemented in my head first, and then commit it to visible words. But sometimes you’ve just got to pave the way to get to where you’re going, and then worry about making sure it’s right later.
