5. What’s your favorite headcanon you use in fics?

Idk if this counts as a headcanon or just as a very slightly tweaked reality lol but I like Rob being the soppy, affectionate, romantic one who goes in for hair-ruffling and saying stuff like “I’m the husband” in public, while Felipe’s being more tsundere and trying to play it cool/professional until they’re alone. I like the idea of Felipe being unexpectedly more sensible, at least these days, and being the mum friend and looking after wild lad Rob, haha.

12. What’s the hardest thing to write for you?

~~Everything~~ I think actually what I hate the most is transition scenes and moving between important bits. I think I’ve got better at just going ‘Right, moving on’, but it’s still hard to know how to smoothly get from A to B when the bit in between isn’t necessary but you need to have a bit of filler somehow, even if it’s just a sentence or two. I also hate writing big emotional stuff cos it’s so hard to a) gauge exactly how emotional the characters would be without making them seem unhinged, and b) writing it appropriately so it evokes the correct emotion, without either being flat, or OTT and just ending up laughable. And rn I’m finding it so difficult in the last few chapters of my roadtrip fic to remember everything I’ve already dealt with in order to avoid rehashing it or, worse, contradicting it! It’s a real brain-breaker, so even though the spirit is willing, it’s still slow going!

6. What’s the detail you wait on bated breath for readers to notice?

Idk if it’s a hidden detail, but I always want people to read the dialogue and really be able to hear the characters saying it. In AUs also often like to include parallels with things that have happened in canon, so I always hope people pick up on those too. And I love having running threads and callbacks to moments earlier within the fic, but it’s tricky to know if I’ve made them too blatant – I want them to be subtle, but I want people to notice, so I find it difficult to get the balance right!

15. Give us a snippet of something from your WiPs!

I just put up a bit from my zombie fic in my other response to this question, so here’s a bit from the sex worker AU as well:

Felipe smiles at him patiently. “Don’t be nervous,” he says soothingly, coming to stand in front of him.

Rob feels himself blushing again. “It’s my first time doing this,” he blurts out, feeling even more stupid.

Felipe smiles. “The first time you pay for it?” he asks. “Or the first time you pay this much?” he adds, chuckling.

That makes Rob laugh a little too. “Both,” he admits. “I have no idea how this is meant to go.”

Felipe runs his hands up Rob’s arms, over his shoulders, fingertips touching the nape of his neck and making him shiver. “Relax,” he murmurs. “We do anything you want. If I do anything you don’t like, you tell me to stop, OK?”

Rob feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. “Can I kiss you?” he asks. He wants to, but he’s not sure if it’s some kind of taboo.

“If you want to, for sure,” Felipe laughs lightly, tilting his face up so it’s easy for Rob to just lean down and press his lips to Felipe’s.

What is your favorite fic you have under your belt?

In the past, I’ve always said Earthly Delights, which is just wall-to-wall smut but probably the peak of my smut-writing career, lol. But recently I’ve resumed work on my roadtrip fic, and I think actually that be the work I’m proudest of, because it actually has something like a story and development, and if when I finish it, it’ll be the first long multiparter I’ve ever completed in 16 years of writing fanfiction, lol.

11. What’s a fanfic idea you haven’t done yet?

I actually ticked two things off my ideas list for the 1000 words challenge, so now I’m concentrating on my WIPs, BUT I have also realised I should finish what was my retirement fic for Felipe with a triumphant comeback chapter. Which is actually a much more cheerful prospect than what I originally had planned, so hopefully it should be a bit easier and less heart-rending!

15. Give us a snippet of something from your WiPs!

I can never remember what I’ve shared already from my ancient WIPs lol but here’s a bit from ye olde zombie apocalypse:

If he lost Rob, there’d be fuck all else to stay alive for.

He’s just beginning to wonder whether that’s a good thing, and feel the threat of unease start to rise, when Rob shifts, opening his eyes to look at Felipe sleepily.

“You alright?” he mumbles, turning onto his side to face Felipe.

Felipe smiles. “Yes,” he says softly. “I am just thinking, if you were not here, probably I will be dead.”

Rob chuckles dryly. “That your idea of pillow talk, is it?” he says. “At least you know how to make a bloke feel needed.”

Felipe laughs a little too. It feels strange to be glad about anything now, but he’s glad he ended up with Rob.
