Carl and Gary answer the question “What’s the worst gig you’ve ever played?” “How long have we got?!” Carl describes the first demise of the Libertines as a “staggering crumble… that sounds like some kind of dessert doesn’t it?” and says he once went and thanked the Wu Tang Clan for supporting them, lol. (Sorry the sound is so tinny!)
What Katie Did, Victorious, 24/8/18. Carl had an extremely firm grip on Peter that he did not want to relinquish, and also thought he’d take a ride on Andy the roadie, lol.
My view of the boys singing I Say a Little Prayer at Victorious. I’m still not over them singing “I will love you, forever and ever/Together, together, that’s how it must be” so intimately together 💖 Also note: Carl smacking Peter on the bum with the drumsticks @ 1.14, haha.
Gary and Carl discuss Peter’s epic breakfast-conquering feat on Radio X at Victorious. It was no surprise to them, because after all, he is the Pigman and that nickname “isn’t lightly earned”, lol.
Victorious, quick summary before I go to sleep:
• I love them so, so much
• My favourites that spring to mind atm were Gunga Din, Death on the Stairs, and Music When the Lights Go Out
• Carl was waaaasted
• Pete looked overall healthy and cheerful, if a little unsteady but not much new there really right
• Gary did that floss dance thing while Carl drummed and John looked on
• Carl smacked Pete’s bum
• Carl introduced John, then Gary, then Pete. Then Pete asked “is there a Carl Barât out there tonight?” and everyone laughed; Carl came up behind Pete and whispered something, and Pete went, “oh ‘ello, he’s behind me. It’s Carl Ashley Raphael Barât, everyone, and he’s got length, apparently” i filmed the last bit and i might post it later
• I mean idk if it was just me but Carl seemed to be all over Pete and very flirtatious
• They tried to play an extra song (or Carl did) and the electric was turned off which was a bit anti-climatic lol
I’m trying to upload pics but it’s taking foreverrrrr, I can’t wait to see them in Margate x
Adding some other bits i remember!
– they sang I Say A Little Prayer at the end
– Carl played the drums a little
– Carl sat on poor old Andy the roadie
– Peter made a “come here!” gesture in the direction of someone down the front, then the next second some lad jumped on the stage, haha. Peter said the security was getting lax, lol
– Carl complained about the “£2000 a cigarette” onstage smoking ban that Peter mentioned several times last year on tour
– once again for emphasis: Carl was extremely wasted and flirty, haha. He even gave John a bit of stroking at one point, lol
Carl Radio X 2018-08-21 13-31-41.wav
Carl spoke to Chris Moyles on Radio X this morning, talking about Victorious festival this weekend, Wheels & Fins, turning 40, and, of course, the hotel. It’s 15 minutes long and was quite early in the morning (“The engine’s running but no-one’s behind the wheel”, lol). Any probs with the file give me a shout!
