ALSO how much better were the Monkees when they were being themselves, rather than people trying to fit them into a box? Like when they had all wishy-washy copycat numbers given to them (DW Washburn, Ladies Aid Society come to mind) and it was obvious they were given them to be ~on trend~ but they were trend-setters enough by themselves.
