MY EYE COLOUR.

My eyes are blue, a not particularly exciting blue, but I have central heterochromia which means I have a light brown ring round my pupils! Get it from my mum.

CONCERTS I’VE BEEN TO

The last concert I went to was Queen!!! So happy I got to see them! Last year I saw: Songhoy Blues, Orchestra Baobab (twice), Libs (4 times including Tramlines), The Coral, and Toots & the Maytals (also both at Tramlines). I’ve never been a massive gig-goer but I’ve managed to tick off a lot of my faves, like Paul McCartney, The Monkees, Adam Ant, David Devant & His Spirit Wife, the Manic Street Preachers, and of course my beloved Kanjani8, a number of times. But not as many times as I’ve seen Jedward, hahaha.

In addition, off the top of my head I’ve seen: Cast (first gig!), Take That, Lonnie Donegan, Kula Shaker, Super Furry Animals, Polyphonic Spree, the Divine Comedy, Sons of Kemet, the Futureheads, Seu Jorge, Seasick Steve, Dizzee Rascal, George Clinton & Parliament, Johnny Dankworth & Cleo Laine, British Sea Power, Har Mar Superstar, the Supernaturals, Ten Benson, Electric 6 (apparently???), Rachel Stamp, Squarepusher, and I’m prob missing a bunch more, especially from my teens, but that’s enough! 

Wait I forgot X!  What would you do if you got a million [insert currency of your preference here (I choose pounds cos they’re prob the most worthful, even now haha)] right now?

Well, I’d definitely be booking some flights to Australia for roundabout the end of February time, along with some festival tickets 😉 And buying some grand prix tickets – admittedly with less fervour than I would have last year, haha, but it’d be nice to take the whole #Mafia to Monaco or something 😉

I’m at 2700 now! I think I’m dying haha

I posted this meme, and then realised that the only things I’ve written recently are 10000 words of three separate Libertines fics. I’m so sorry. But on the other hand, judging by the number of people who messaged me asking for my stash of saved Libs fics I’m reassured that perhaps the demand is there, so here’s a few tasters! All from the currently-longest fic cos that’s where my head’s at right now, haha.

Carl just rolls his eyes, but he doesn’t really want to continue this weary argument yet again. 

“Almost an hour, perhaps,” Carl says, trying not to shiver at the feeling of Peter’s eyes on him.

“I wouldn’t mind, but there’s things I’d like more,” he says, his eyes fixed on Carl again, just like they were at the party.

Peter walks towards him, comes close enough to touch, and he does, brushing Carl’s hair back from his face again, looking down into his eyes with such intent that Carl shivers. 

“Fuck,” sighs Peter, his eyes following his hands as they stroke over Carl’s chest and stomach.

(There were a few more eyes ones but I felt like that’s enough lol)

Peter must have an interesting story to tell, though Carl isn’t sure how much of it he’d believe.

They’re probably not even halfway home, and they’ve already done what they were on their way to do.

Carl tries to act naturally, like he brings people he’s just met here to fuck all the time, and like he assumes Peter visits places like this all the time, and he should feel at home.

4.     a song that is not sung in your native language

I listen to loads of music that’s not in English, a lot of which I’ve already mentioned, so I’ll go with a different artist for this! Songhoy Blues – Soubour. I saw Songhoy Blues the other week and they put on an incredible show, loads of energy and a powerful message about tolerance, love and the important role music can have in bringing people together. I’m so pleased at the success they’ve had around the world.

Oh man, how long have you got…? There’s a trailer for a radio show with Charlotte Gainsbourg and she mentions Lay Lady Lay and that might be one of the worst songs in history, soz Serge. 

34.   a song you’d like your favorite artist to cover

The Libs are fond of a cover, which is always a treat cos I do love hearing faves covering faves! I think a while back I said I’d love to hear them cover The Kinks’ Village Green Preservation Society, that would be great.

Can’t lie, much as I love get-together fic I just can’t resist established relationships. Especially when it comes to smut, it just makes it so much easier and adds that extra dimension 😉

Give yourself a place to write where it doesn’t matter. “This isn’t an ACTUAL story, no, I’m just… wording.” Sometimes it works to trick yourself a little, sometimes something good comes out. 🙂 <3

That’s a good idea, try and take the pressure off – I feel like I’ve been trying to do that in my mind, but putting the words down is still such a big commitment! ;S I’m at least going to have a go anyway, somewhere safe!

15. Have you ever “shipped at first sight”?

I feel like probably a lot of my ships fall into this category, haha – I go into a lot of things with my shipper glasses firmly on. Not particularly when I got into F1, I have to say, but it definitely happened with Yasuba – I remember watching clips on YouTube, and when Subaru and Yasu were being very touchy-feely during Do You Agree? from the Heat Up DVD I was like “Oh, I see there might be something for me here~~” And a pairing like Pete and Carl is one anyone can ship from a single picture without even knowing who they are ;3

19. Have you ever shipped something despite yourself?

Again, yes, because those shipper glasses are a curse as well as a blessing, haha. Eg Geoffrey Boycott and Jonathan Agnew from Test Match Special -_- Geoffrey is a terrible old curmudgeon and Jonathan loves to wind him up and they’re bffs and Geoffrey’s always saying how much he loves him despite the teasing. I didn’t ask for this ship but I can’t help but see it D;

28. Does shipping come easily to you?

Ha, I think we’ve established that yes, yes it does, for better or worse, lol. If I see a good ship I can get dragged into all sorts of nonsense very quickly. I shipped things before I even knew shipping was a thing, and thought I was a freak before I realised there were lots of other freaks like me out there too 🙂

29. Do you need to ship something to really enjoy a movie/book/tv show/comic?

I do enjoy things very much where I don’t ship anything, but oftentimes I end up with a ship whether I looked for it or not, lol, and I do feel it enriches the whole experience.

B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?

The roadtrip fic started out loosely based on my own travelling in the US, though I travelled by train and mainly covered the south-west so I was on shaky ground when Rob and Felipe left New Mexico in the fic, lol. But some of the stuff they did earlier in the fic happened to me, especially the entire episode in Flagstaff with the annoying guy and eating Japanese food and getting enraged when they wouldn’t accept my UK driving licence in a bar where I didn’t even want to drink, lol. I guess Fools of us All also took in my experiences of struggling and ultimately failing my PhD, but not really caring enough to do anything about it, lol. 

P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)

I very much let the story go where it wants. It helps if I actually have a destination, but I find you have to build as you go – for me, it makes for a richer story and  things occur to you that you might not have seen if you hadn’t followed the path all the way, if you see what I mean. That said, there’s fics I’ve had to abandon because I just didn’t have a plan for how they were going to develop and finish >< And there’s other fics I have extensive plans for, but now I have the whole plan, I don’t really have the motivation to write it out, because I already know what’s going to happen! Which is how I feel about life as well tbh lol, I regard detailed plans as spoilers and avoid them as much as I can XD

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist?

I love really simple stuff – domesticity, friends to lovers, meeting in everyday situations and falling in love, all that soppy stuff lol. I also can never resist some stuff that I know a lot of other people flee from, like genderswitch and mpreg. The latter is hard to do well, it’s true, but more people should try >.>
