1. What was the first fandom you got involved in?

As with so many of my generation, it was Gundam Wing, haha. Growing up pre-internet, I had no idea fandom was a thing or that there were other obsessive folks like me out there. And GW fandom was VAST, even though I missed the absolute peak of it. It had everything you could possibly expect from an early-2000s fandom experience, haha: endless fic cliches, crackfic, “muses”, drama and flame wars, and (something I greatly miss in current fandoms) – massive fic archives.

3. What is the best fandom you’ve ever been involved in?

Ahh, what a tough question! In terms of general enjoyment and lack of drama, F1 fandom has been amazing. I’ve made some awesome friends, been to some great events, had some incredible experiences. And there’s nothing like the real time emotion of sport! But then I could say similar for K8 fandom, or Libs fandom as well – K8 fandom took me to Japan, and Libs fandom has the most emotionally engaging story of any fandom I’ve ever been in. And I’ve made lasting friendships through them too. Those three are all very close to my heart!

6. List your OTP from each fandom you’ve been involved in.

(Leaving out fandoms where there is only ONE pairing, haha) 
Gundam Wing: Heero/Duo (though I went through some other rarer permutations first)
Prince of Tennis: Momo/Ryoma (though I wrote plenty of others too)
Saiyuki: Sanzo/Goku
Kanjani8: Yasuba
The Monkees: I started out Mike/Peter, then went to Peter/Davy, but I don’t have any particular feelings about it now tbh lol

21. What was the first fanfic you ever wrote? 

I remember writing some short Heero/Quatre fics in Gundam Wing fandom but I can’t remember what they were about now. Probably for the best lol. 

26. How do you come up with your fanfic titles?

Nine times out of ten they’re song lyrics, lol, but now I’m in a music fandom that seems weird lol. They’re almost always lifted from something or other though, heh.

least favourite band member: For the opposite reason, probably Peter lol. Though in the show I love him!

how many of their albums i have: I have a cheap CD set of their original albums, and the outstanding Definitive collection, which is an album I hold very dear

favourite album: Today I’m going to say Headquarters! .

favorite lyrics: Mommy & Daddy (both versions). Ask your mommy why everybody swallows all those little pills/Ask your daddy why that soldier doesn’t care who he kills… Do you think I’m too young to know, to see, to feel, or hear/My questions need an answer or a vacuum will appear… 

I love how Micky was determined to use his platform to speak up for his generation and the things they cared about, and it’s pretty great they let him through the medium of a tween pop group.

favorite music video: This is a hard pick! All their romps are highlights of the show. I do like the Take a Giant Step one where Micky is just sat around singing dressed as Mrs Arcadian tho, lol. 

ever met any members: No, and seems a bit unlikely they’ll ever come back to the UK buuut we can keep hoping!

Have I been to a concert: Yes! I saw them twice in 2011 on the 45th anniversary tour with Peter, Micky and Davy. The first show was what made me a proper-proper fan, and that whole summer was me immersing myself in the show and the music and Tumblr fandom. A great time!

MY FAVOURITE MOVIE.

City of God (Cidade de Deus), a Brazilian film set in a notorious favela in Rio de Janeiro, following two young boys from the 60s through to the 80s. It’s a powerful story but it’s also incredibly skilfully-made and atmospheric, and with a killer soundtrack too. It’s based on real people, and it’s brutal and tragic in many places, but it’s fascinating and absorbing and takes you on an amazing journey. And it came out here at the start of 2003, a year I’ve obviously been very nostalgic for recently, haha. I saw it in the cinema about 7 times, lol.

My best friend is @shinyforce and she is wonderful and kind and soft and makes me kind of ashamed to not be as good a person as her but at the same time has made me better through knowing her! And she’s also very smart, supportive, understanding and fun to be around! Ily Helen~~

Nope! I keep thinking of tattoo ideas (I’d quite like a Yorkshire rose, and a mugendai, and a number 19) BUT I’m really intolerant to pain lol so I’m basically too scared when it comes down to it, haha.

WHY I HATE SCHOOL.

I didn’t hate school, but I did hate PhD study, because quite frankly I never really had any idea what I was doing because nobody was there to tell me exactly what to do on a day by day basis, which is what I need if I’m going to succeed, really.

G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order?

I have to write start to finish. There’s nothing more depressing for me in writing than coming across a gap that I couldn’t fill the first time, and now it’s even worse cos I have to make it match up with the piece at the other side!

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

I mentioned this in my last answer but probably mpreg, haha. I KNOW it’s stupid and regarded as the ultimate example of why fanfic is written by a bunch of nutters but I think it’s the pinnacle of domestic fic lol. Even though I hate the idea of being pregnant myself and don’t want kids lol. Maybe that’s why I enjoy mpreg so much tbh :/a 

W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones?

I think I prefer more specific ones tbh. I can always expand if necessary ;3

Ha! Nobody really, though when someone’s done something questionable it’s nice to know you can write and put them in their place via the medium of fic, lol.
