[Anthony’s] doing great, I love that man. And he’s made his peace with Peter as well, some hug in the Ace Hotel that he was telling me about, or Pete was telling me about too, sort of buried the hatchet and made that whole time period. ‘Cos a lot of Dirty Pretty Things was on the back of Libertines guilt and, it’s not OK to play Libertines songs and it’s not OK to be happy, you’ve blown apart this thing… [Anthony] was coming to stay in London… I said book yourself a hotel, I’ll get it I’ll get it… the fucking Ace Hotel! Anyway he met Pete and lalala, so I’d like to say I funded that. So that was nice.
It’s currently gory however I’m so pleased with it all I can’t help but share. This is what @suchasinistergame had Peter write out for me. I’m immensely superstitious about pennies and I’m of the belief the one I found in the days before I left for Margate made that trip so magical. That’s how that line and that song came to be so associated with that amazing journey and meeting a friend with whom I share my oddest, truest self. That Sarah went and got this for me when I failed to ask (again!) just makes it mean the world, and that Peter sang it to her and said he loved it too, is just that extra bit special.
I’m so, so happy and just a little bit proud that I was able to do that for you, after all the amazing things you’ve done for me and helped and encouraged me to do, I’m glad I was able to get something so special and meaningful for you – that you’ve now immortalised! I’m really honoured to be a part of the story of it, it feels really so very special to me too that everything, including ourselves, came together just so perfectly, and that you have this to capture and remember it all with now. And I can’t wait to be there when you get to show Peter! 😉
