3. three songs you were recently obsessed with

Carl Barat – Je Regrette, Je Regrette (why does this song have such awful awful lyrics it deserves better lol)
Hefner – The Hymn for the Cigarettes
Boy Azooga – Loner Boogie

5. three songs you wish you could forget (because listening to them hurts)

Oh that’s a tough one! Probably songs associated with my ex that feel a bit tainted now lol (though that kind of includes Hefner as mentioned above, sooo shrug)

Bjork – Isobel
Yeah, I’m gonna say anything by Hefner lol (especially Hello Kitten and May God Protect Your Home), listening to them does feel a bit weird even though they’ve got some good songs
Also, weirdly, the whole of Sgt Peppers (but especially She’s Leaving Home/Fixing a Hole) because I listened to it while I was ill once when I was a kid and it still makes me feel weird

20. three songs that remind you of the person who sends this one

Err… I might need a bit more info before I can answer this one! Lol

Thanks! 😉

tell me about your first crush

Hmm I talked about my dreadful infant school ~boyfriend in a previous post so instead for this I’ll turn to the realm of celebrity crushes, haha. If you’re a British woman of my generation, you KNOW this man was your first pin up:

He once read my name out on TV. Swoon.

Thanks for asking! 😉

Have you read Threepenny Memoir? Can you tell about your impressions?

Yes, I have! Or more accurately, I’ve listened to the audiobook, for the full Carl experience haha. I really enjoyed it, I think his writing is very engaging and natural and reads very genuinely. I think the book offers some really good insights, and I have to say I felt great relief that when he was writing about the Libertines and Peter, it wasn’t bitter or unpleasant, even though of course parts of it were very sad. I think it conveyed a lot of Carl’s romanticism and his intelligence too, and again I was quite relieved he came across as a thoughtful and reflective guy, especially about some difficult issues. It was nice that overall he was in a place where he was able to write something positive. I’d actually love to read more of his writing!

HARDEST THING I’VE EVER BEEN THROUGH.

Not wanting to be a downer but my dad died two days after my 17th birthday – it wasn’t so much his death that was the hardest thing, but he’d had cancer and seeing that was tough, especially when I was that age.

VIRGIN OR NOT?

Well I guess not lol

A RANDOM FACT ABOUT MYSELF.

When I took my A levels I was considered good at English (ha) so I took a Special paper, the significance of which I’ve never fully understood, but it was about 3 hours of creative writing and I “passed” so good for me I guess

Thanks!

hello! i am an “aspiring” fanfiction writer and i love your stories! i was wondering, you said you love pining. i love it too, and i’m trying to write a fanfiction with this trope but it’s actually complicated to explain *why* the two characters won’t kiss or touch for a while if they’re both in love! would you mind giving me advices? thank you so much!

Hi! Thank you so much for your kind words! And your question is a very good one! I agree, it is very difficult to explain, especially for some pairings – for example, the pining thing doesn’t really work for a pair like Rolipe because I can’t imagine Felipe just keeping his feelings to himself, haha. This is why I quite like the pining to be more one-sided, with one half of the pairing hopelessly in love, and the other more slowly developing or realising their feelings.

In terms of reasons why they might hesitate to get together or show each other how they feel, well, oddly enough recently I’ve been reading a lot of fics where at least one half of the pairing has some trouble dealing with the idea that they might have sexual feelings for someone of the same sex, heh. Or there might be an element of not wanting to be hurt, if they’re unsure of the other person’s feelings, or they’ve been hurt before. Or there might be external circumstances – disapproval of family or peers, imminent big event that means they’d be split up even if they did get together. There’s also the “Oh they’d never be interested in someone like me, and I don’t want to lose them as a friend” line of thinking, or just plain old shyness I suppose! It’s true tho, it does take a bit of work to figure out exactly why they wouldn’t just get together if they like each other, haha. But some boys don’t make it easy 😉
